My girls (2 and 31/5) love motorcycles. In fact, today we went to the neighborhood Harley dealer and killed a quick hour by letting the little ones climb up and “try out” all the bikes in the used inventory (and yes, we were VERY careful to not leave any marks or evidence that we were there). Truth be told, I am still trying to find a few moments to repair the bendix gear on the sidecar rig or I would have killed the morning with them just tooling around the neighborhood.
Often, especially when it comes to bedtime, my little ones say, “Dad, can we watch a movie with you and have popcorn, pleeeezzzzeeeee?” Well, when Mama is around I usually put them straight to bed, but if she is out with friends, I often give in and we all pile into one chair and watch something on TV together. The shows or “movies” we tend to see are an episode of American Thunder, or maybe I figure I am in for the long haul and we throw Wild Hogs into the DVD player. Either case, we generally watch something motorcycle related.
This Sunday, I expect that when bedtime rolls around the question of movies and popcorn will again come up. And this time I will respond positively with a spring in my step as I head off the kitchen to nuke some popcorn and fill sippy cups with OJ. Why? Well, because this Sunday the Disney Channel is airing Handy Manny in his Motorcycle Adventure! It is a primetime family special featuring Manny, a small town handyman, and all of his tools, which talk and help him fix things for the other members of the community. Looks like Manny will be taking his tools on the road in a sidecar… which could be a good decision if his sidecar is anything like our sidecar rig (i.e.- not running!).
Anyway, all you Pops on Chops out there, get the little ones together in the living room, burn some microwave popcorn, and enjoy the show. I know that is what we are going to be doing in the ArtBiker house.
