Wow, I remember when the Lone Star Rally was born… Galveston thought long and hard about allowing a bunch of crazy bikers onto the island… but it was successful… Heck, in 2003 or 2004, my little lady and I had a major art exhibition of biker related photographs at the Galveston Arts Center during the annual rally… That was a good time.

The crowds have grown each year, and the event is now known as the Largest Weekend Rally in the country!  Attendance is high enough to rival the biggies like Sturgis, Daytona, Laconia, and the recently deceased Myrtle Beach, but all the fun is packed into 4 days… which, is not that big a problem.  Similarly to Daytona and Myrtle Beach, there isn’t a whole lot of riding to be done locally.  So, if you are on your way to G-Town from parts outside the Houston Metro Area, please choose your route wisely… there will be plenty of opportunity to ride the super slab and straight highways once you get to town.  In other words, find your curves along the way.

There will be a ton to do… bike shows (which I plan to win), tattoo shows (which I plan to win), drinking contests (which I plan to win), barroom brawls (which I plan to win), a poker run or two (which I plan to win), and some other stuff that you needn’t concern yourself with… as you can tell, I probably plan to win.

Seriously though, come and play.  Look for me as I will be taking part in as much as possible and if there isn’t some fun event to do, I will be sitting on the side of the street, sipping an adult beverage, and eyeballing some amazing looking sleds and people watching as the world goes by.  If you spot me, stop and say hello… maybe you will let me buy you a beer.

festival map

(yes, this is an old map… but the space has not changed at all)

Galveston is located approximately one hour south of Houston. Take I-45 south for approximately 50 miles. After you cross the causeway linking the mainland to Galveston, I-45 will become Broadway, and the cross streets will be numbered in decreasing order. To reach the Strand National Historic Landmark District, the site of Dickens on The Strand, turn left onto either 24th, 22nd, or 21st Streets, and continue north toward Galveston Bay. These streets all intersect Mechanic Street at the perimeter of the festival site.

Parking is available on many streets and lots within walking distance of the festival area.
