When my shovelhead hadn’t been up too long (early 90′s) I decided I didn’t need all those dang spacers and wound up rupturing a seam on my tanks someplace. Gritted my teeth and rode home hard and fast (60miles) leaking all the way.
Your situation looks a lot more flame proof.
