Today I Had My Picture Taken

Yes, today I had my picture taken… and so did my VP, and my SOA, and my Secretary, and my Road Captain, and my Enforcer, and my National Defender, and my Brothers, and my Prospects, and my Hang-Arounds, whew!

Yeah, well don’t be too impressed because we certainly were not the only people being recorded by some photographic process. You see, today we attended the funeral of a local man who was killed by a drunk driver.  Horrible, terrible, unforgivable thing… And this was no ordinary man (not that anyone is ordinary to their loved ones), no this man was a National Officer of the Bandido Motorcycle Club. And there were patch holders from as far away as Europe who showed up to pay their respects.

And what happens when you get a large group of motorcycle clubs and/or motorcycle club members together in one place?  Well, Johnny Law tends to invite himself along for the ride.  Camping out in bushes and parked cars and sometimes as brazen as walking right out in front of you, taking your picture, recording your license plate, and making sure you are included in the “National Database of Fun Loving, Good Hearted, Generous, Charitable, Motorcycle Enthusiasts.”

So yes, today I had my picture taken.  But that really isn’t the point of this little post.  The point is to allow some of us to say goodbye to a member of our local motorcycle community.  He was taken far too soon and will leave a void in many a heart for a long time to come.

RIP Bandido Pervert – GBNF

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A suspect drunk driver was in jail Sunday after a motorcyclist died in an accident in north Harris County.

Deputies said a motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Rankin near Rankin Circle W. around 1:15 a.m. when the driver of a black pickup truck turned in front of the bike while pulling into a dance club parking lot.

Authorities said the motor cycle rider couldn’t avoid an accident and crashed into the passenger side of the truck. He died at the scene.

Deputies said the driver of the truck ran from the scene but was tracked by a K-9 unit and eventually caught by police hiding in nearby woods.

He was arrested and faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.

UPDATE:

39-year-old Carlton Bare, a proud member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, was killed when a drunk driver pulled in front of him on Rankin Road in Spring, Texas.  At approximately 1am Sunday morning, Bare impacted the passenger side of the Silverado and was thrown from his bike.  The car’s driver, Carlos Lengua (37), split the scene and did not stop to help.  Bare died at the scene and police and a K9 unit tracked Lengua.  He has been arrested for DWI and manslaughter.

RIP,

ArtBiker

Carlos Lengua
