You probably know him… or at least his work. Nick is a prolific tattoo artist and someone I am very, very lucky to call a friend. I am also lucky to wear a sleeve of his work on my arm, so you know I put my money where my mouth is. Whenever I would go in for a long session, Nick would help me take my mind off the pain by talking art. Specifically, Tromp Loei’l realism… And Nick has become a master at it. Both on canvas and on skin.
You can read my writing about him here if you like, but this post is about his latest achievement which is a book called Sharp Focus Realism in Oil. This manual not only showcases Baxter’s amazing images, but also delves into the technical and mental skills needed to create this kind of work. I will own it because I am an artist, many will own it because they are tattoo artists, and more still will own it because they are collectors of fine art and/or derma graphics.
Regardless of why you want it on your shelf, be sure to pick it up. And to see more of Baxter’s work, hit his website. I guarantee you will be blown away.
Love, Respect, and Fine Art,
ArtBiker
